A Large Bronze Gu-Form Vase
17th/18th Century

The vase of archaic gu-form is decorated with various archaistic designs on a key fret ground, most notably the imposing taotie masks situated towards the base and middle portion of the vase.

Made of bronze and of a rich brown tone, the vase has been made in two sections due to its striking large size and weight, it was skilfully joined together above the mid-body section.
